Testimonials

I hadn’t considered what a mentor would do. I only imagined a mentor would help me with grammar and spelling and possibly, tidying up of my sentences here and there. The most useful aspect of having a mentor for me was help to put a sensible chronological order to my story

At times, I hold a negative impression of my own worth. It was wonderful for me to have someone reassuring me and helping to me to produce the best possible version of the story I was trying to share.”

After I started working with Lis, it felt as though a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders once I was able to share my work, and the prospect of publishing seemed achievable.

I had the best time ever being a mentee of Lis’. She taught me so much, not just about writing but about myself too. She helped me to let go of more past hurt than I ever thought possible and to move forward in peace! She also taught me not to use so many exclamation marks…”

I’ve found that working each month with Lis, chapter to chapter, means I actually get it done and devote time to it. Otherwise the day job distracts me and everything else takes priority. My desire to get my first book done is so great that I’ve invested in Lis’ experience and knowledge to actually get the job finished.”

Did my first session with my book mentor Lis McDermott who is helping me plan my first book. It was a fabulous day with a great introduction which made me really focus on why I wanted to write it – and who I was writing it for and how I was going to do it. The interactive planning session was amazing. I felt like I already had my book laid out before me in note form. This helps me as my main problem has always been how many stories I can tell rather than what stories to tell!
